Microsoft Internet Explorer CIERegistryHelper::SetSingleValue Sandbox Escape Vulnerability
Vulnerability Details
This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Microsoft Internet Explorer. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the CIERegistryHelper::SetSingleValue API. When this API is used with a whitelisted registry entry, an attacker can modify privileged registry values via a registry link. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of the user at medium integrity.
