Microsoft Edge ms-its: Scheme Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Microsoft Edge. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file while in Internet Explorer mode.

The specific flaw exists within the handling of the ms-its: URI scheme. A crafted URI can result in unconstrained execution of script in a downloaded file, irrespective of the presence of the Mark-Of-The-Web. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user at medium integrity.
