(Pwn2Own) Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 Configuration Service Missing Authentication Vulnerability

Vulnerability Details

This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to bypass authentication on affected installations of Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3150 devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the configuration service, which listens on TCP port 5001 by default. The issue results from the lack of authentication prior to allowing access to functionality. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of the device.
